IBC 2016: Sony has developed a new Super 35mm / APS-C format power zoom lens.

The lens (SELP18110G) starts at 18mm wide angle and extends to 110mm at the telephoto end (27mm – 165mm equivalent in 35mm format), with 6.1x high zoom ratio.

Sony said it would be an ideal companion to its A-mount System cameras, such as the PXW-FS7 or the A7 series.

The lens consists of 18 elements in 15 groups, including six aspherical elements and 3 ED extra-low dispersion glass elements and features a seven blade circular aperture design.

The lens will be available from December for approximately €4,000.
