Brief Picture and audio post on the 8 x 60-minute documentary series which captures the vivid patchwork of human experience that is evident across the NHS every day.

How it was done Senior colourist Perry Gibbs’ main objective was to keep the series accessible. Gibbs had to achieve a balance between all the various sources whilst progressing the look chronologically through the day.

As well as this balance, the visual was enhanced in a subtle way by adding a little contrast and where possible increasing dominant colours including; the blues of uniforms, the red of a heart monitor, the yellow of a splint.

With the help of sound effects, dubbing mixer Dan Chapman was able to create the sense of switching from one city to another via the network of cameras in different parts of Britain. Matt Jeffreys onlined in Symphony.
