Liberty Livewire facility 4MC has made another top-level signing with the appointment of De Lane Lea head of sound David Old, writes Barbara Marshall.

The move comes just a month after the facility lured Vince Narduzzo from Pepper to head the telecine department and is part of 4MC Pictures facilities managing director Bruce Everett's plan to turn 4MC into the 'leading drama facility in Europe' ( Broadcast, 6.9.02).

Lane joins 4MC as head of sound and will be based at St Anne's Court in Soho which houses the firm's offline and online editing facilities as well as the telecine and audio departments.

Old's credits include BBC 1's Warriors, for which he won a Bafta and an RTS award for best sound, Channel 4's A Dance to the Music of Timeand The Vicefor Carlton. He has seven Baftas.

He started his career as a technical assistant at BBC Bristol in 1973, later moving into sound to become a TV dubbing mixer. In 1984 he joined Cine Lingual and after a brief spell at Magmasters he joined De Lane Lea in 1994.
