Avid has announced the availability of new modules for its MediaCentral Platform.

Introduced at NAB earlier this year, MediaCentral sits at the heart of Avid’s range of tools for editing, distributing and storing video and audio content.

New Avid Media Suite modules that operate on the platform include Media Director, Media Index and Media Distribute – all of which are available to purchase now.

Media Director has been designed to speed up file-based workflows in reality TV, post-production, and broadcast environments.

According to Avid, “powerful yet easy-to-use” scripting tools allow the software to orchestrate the process of ingesting media into Avid and third-party production and nearline storage.

Avid said it is “ideal for productions that command high volumes of footage” as it “eliminates manual prep work, enabling organisations to lower production costs and gain maximum efficiency”.

Media Index accelerates and extends file search and retrieval across multiple Interplay production systems regardless of where the media is stored.

An “optimised, high-performance search engine” provides functionality to find clips and sequences across multiple databases and global facilities.

Media Distribute is the new name for Interplay Pulse. Avid said it would help to simplify, accelerate, and unify distribution of content to multiple channels and devices.
