BBC Broadcast is to tighten up the playout operations at its Broadcast Centre facility in preparation for the launch of services from the site in April.

BBC Technology is among the vendors to benefit from the move, with a contract to supply its Colledia Control software. Colledia Control will introduce greater efficiency and allow Broadcast Centre staff to assess any reported faults and act quickly to restore normal service.

The system controls and monitors the playout infrastructure remotely from a single user interface. It then logs status information from playout equipment in order to deliver on-screen reports to operational staff. Also contracted to supply playout equipment to Broadcast Centre is Eyeheight. This equipment will be used to control and monitor playout of BBC Worldwide and the BBC's interactive channels.
