Pope John Paul II, who died last Sunday, has had his funeral scheduled for Friday (8 April). The royal wedding of Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles has been moved to Saturday so that the prince can attend the Pope's funeral.

BBC outside broadcast will be the host broadcaster for the royal wedding and will provide coverage of the couple's journey from Windsor Castle to the Guildhall registry office and of the blessing from St George's Chapel. Forty cameras will provide pictures for three host feeds for international broadcasters. The BBC would not disclose the cost of the operation.

Jon Mason, head of project delivery management, is handling royal wedding coverage, with engineering manager Peter Taylor overseeing the funeral.
