Factual commissioner returns as interim channel editor
Nasfim Haque has been appointed interim BBC3 channel editor, ahead of the return of its linear channel.
Haque takes on the role until the summer. The position was created following the expansion of channel controller Fiona Campbell’s interim brief to cover factual, arts & classical music due to the departure of Patrick Holland.
Based in Birmingham, Haque will work closely with Campbell to oversee the delivery of the 2022/23 slate and will begin work on commissioning plans for 2023/24, as well as managing the content supply and partnerships with the nations.
A commissioning editor for popular factual and fact ent, Haque joined the genre department in 2020, ordering BBC3 titles including Meet The Khans, Nail Bar Boys and the forthcoming Dubai Hustle and Brickies.
She previously worked at BBC3, which she joined in 2016 as digital editor awith responsibility for digital content across YouTube, social media and iPlayer before being appointed as digital commissioner of short-form where she commissioned Bafta-nominated Eating with my Ex and Things Not to Say.
Campbell said: “Nasfim will be joining BBC3 to help support me at such a pivotal time for the channel. Reaching young audiences is a priority for the BBC and Nasfim brings with her a wealth of experience alongside a fantastic track record and deep understanding of how to do it.”
Haque added: “There are some brilliant shows coming down the line and big plans for the future.”
