The Australian group’s directors of content and content partnerships will also take on expanded roles
Foxtel’s content chief Alison Hurbert-Burns is to step down after six years at the Australian pay-TV company.
In the wake of her departure at the end of this month, director of content and channels Wendy Moore has taken on an expanded remit as executive director for entertainment content, while director of content partnerships Stephanie Quinn has been promoted to executive director for content and commercial partnerships.
Moore’s new remit will include oversight of scripted and unscripted originals, holding responsibility for executing the entertainment content strategy for the Foxtel Group and driving audience growth and satisfaction across all platforms.
Head of scripted originals Lana Greenhalgh, head of unscripted originals Howard Myers Rifai and senior manager for production operations Chris Hearn will report into Moore.
Quinn will lead the development and delivery of the company’s content partnership strategy to drive growth, innovation, and audience engagement across all platforms, with general manager for content acquisitions Fleur Fahey reporting in to her.
Hurbert-Burns joined Foxtel in 2019, tasked with resetting its entertainment content strategy, managing relationships with studios and securing rights ahead of the launch of its local streamer Binge in 2020, of which she was also made executive director.
In a statement, group chief executive Patrick Delany and Foxtel and Hubbl chief Hilary Perchard praised Hurbert-Burns’s “creativity” and “outstanding and devoted contribution to our business”.
They credited her with scaling Binge up “from an emerging streamer to the powerhouse entertainment product it is today with over 1.5m subscribers”, driven by Australian stories such as breakout hit Colin From Accounts.
Hurbert-Burns oversaw the commissioning and production of 25 original series during her time at the company, and her upcoming original commissions include The Last Anniversary and Mix Tape. Further titles will come to market over the next year, Foxtel said.
Delany and Pechard wished Hurbert-Burns “a heartfelt congratulations for everything she has achieved for the Foxtel Group” and said she would be missed.
They added: “Wendy and Steph – we all look forward to working with you in your new roles.”
Jeevan Haikerwal will continue his work on content strategy, now reporting to the group strategy team led by Will Loh.
