Actor’s indie to adapt DR’s Ulven Kommer, while FX also orders Ryan Murphy podcast drama
Olivia Colman’s outfit South of the River Productions is co-producing a US version of a Danish psychological thriller for FX, which has also greenlit a scripted adaptation of a podcast with Ryan Murphy.
Cry Wolf, a remake of Danish drama Ulven Kommer, will see Colman and Brie Larsen (Lessons in Chemistry) starring as a social worker and mother, respectively, who find themselves in crisis when the mother’s teenage daughter makes allegations of abuse against her.
The show is based on the eight-part Danish series from 2020, which was produced by DR. The Danish public broadcaster’s distribution arm, DR Sales, holds format rights.

Cry Wolf is being co-produced with FX Productions and has Sarah Treem (The Affair) attached as showrunner.

Ryan Murphy pod project
Disney-owned FX has also greenlit Ryan Murphy’s adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis’ novel The Shards.
The series was put into development in May and has Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney, Homer Gere and Graham Campbell attached to star.
The Shards began life as a podcast in 2020 before a printed novel was released in 2023, while a TV remake had been in the works with HBO but did not progress.
FX’s adaptation is from Ellis and Ryan Murphy Television, the latter of which has an output deal with fellow Disney firm 20th Television. The US studio is attached as producer on The Shards.
The story is set in the early 1980s and explores what happens when a mysterious new student joins an elite prep school, with his arrival coinciding with a series of murders. US trade Deadline first reported The Shards news.
