US network Lifetime has ordered a second drama from ITN Productions.

Girl in the Coffin follows Jasmine, a young woman grieving the recent loss of her mother Carol to cancer. After her funeral, Jasmine catches the eye of funeral director Bill who has an unhealthy attachment to death.

When Jasmine expresses gratitude for his care of her mother, Bill becomes fixated with her, developing an obsession that soon turns dangerous.

Girl in the Coffin stars Tahirah Sharif (The Tower) and Robert James Collier (Downton Abbey) and though set in the US, was filmed in Norfolk.

The thriller is part of Lifetime’s new series of three ‘Girl in the…’ films, which are produced for the cable channel’s ‘Ripped from the Headlines’ franchise.

It is the UK indie’s second feature-length drama for the broadcaster, following 2024’s Girl in the Video, which starred Cush Jumbo. ITNP is the only UK company to produce a film for the series.

It is exec producd by Nicki Purcell and Ian Rumsey for ITNP, with Letitia Knight producing. Kate O’Riordan (Mr Selfridge) wrote the drama, which is directed by Jermain Julien (Death in Paradise).

Purcell, head of production at ITNP, said: “Working with Lifetime on our second drama has given us an exciting opportunity to establish our expertise as drama producers.

“The film takes us into a different genre while leaning into our core skillset creating gripping, pacey true crime documentaries.”

Girl in the Coffin will air on Lifetime on 25 July
