Fremantle has appointed former Platform One Media and Gaumont Television exec Katie O’Connell Marsh to lead its global scripted hub.

O’Connell Marsh will take up the London-based chief executive role in the Autumn, steering the newly formed global scripted hub to provide creative, commercial and strategic direction across Fremantle’s scripted labels.

She will work closely with local teams to strengthen collaboration, share best practice and build a connected global scripted business across drama and film. O’Connell Marsh will also work closely with Fremantle’s commercial and international team on sales forecasts and commercial analysis.

She will report into Andrea Scrosati, Fremantle’s group chief operating officer and chief exec of continental Europe. There will also be a dotted line to commercial and international chief Jens Richter, with O’Connell Marsh sitting on the global leadership team.

Prior to joining Fremantle, O’Connell Marsh held chief exec roles at Platform One Media and Gaumont TV and also served as vice chair of Boat Rocker Studios. In production, her exec producer credits include Apple TV’s Palm Royale. Most recently, she was an external advisor to Bain & Company.

O’Connell Marsh said: “As the industry continues to evolve, the greatest opportunities will come from bringing together exceptional talent, international collaboration and a commercially driven approach.

“I am especially looking forward to working closely with Jennifer Mullin, Andrea Scrosati and the outstanding teams across the business to build on Fremantle’s success and help shape the next chapter of growth for its scripted business.”

Scrosati added that O’Connell Marsh is “a highly accomplished, passionate and commercially astute executive with a deep understanding of global audiences and market trends”.

He added: “She joins us at an incredibly exciting time as we continue to build on the strength of our diverse scripted slate, our award-winning creative labels, and the exceptional talent both on and off screen, that defines our scripted business.”
