The Mediawan Group has acquired Les Films Entre 2&4, the production company behind Netflix’s upcoming French comedy action show Les Lionnes.

Les Films Entre 2&4 was founded in 2016 by actors, writers and directors Benjamin Bellecour, Jean-Toussaint Bernard and Jonathan Cohen.

The company has previously worked with Mediawan on shows such as The Flame and The Torch, and is currently in production on the Rebecca Marder and Naidra Ayadi-starring Les Lionnes for Netflix.

It has also produced Iris, Fucking Fred and McWalter in recent years, and is prepping feature film L’Âme Idéale from Alice Vial, with the show co-produced with Gaumont.

Mediawan said Les Films Entre 2&4 would continue to develop feature films and original TV series “with an increasingly bold editorial approach” following the deal.

Financial details have not been revealed but the acquisition marks the latest expansion for Mediawan, which picked up Slow Horses prodco See-Saw Films earlier this year

Pierre-Antoine Capton, chairman and co-founder of Mediawan, described Les Films Entre 2&4 as “inventive and talented”, adding: “Their experience as actors, writers, and directors allows them to have a unique approach to talent.”

Capton, who co-founded KKR-backed Mediawan in 2015, said that the deal would allow the companies to “jointly develop ambitious new original projects capable of achieving international recognition in France and abroad.”

Thomas Anargyros, president of Mediawan France Scripted, and Dominik Schmelck, managing director of Mediawan France Scripted, added that new projects are in development and “should soon go into production.”

Bellecour, Bernard and Cohen, co-founders of Les Films Entre 2&4, said: “Driven by a strong bond of trust with numerous talented individuals, Les Films Entre 2&4 has always affirmed its ambition to create objects with a powerful identity, capable of surprising, shifting boundaries, and creating both excitement and resonance.

“By joining the Mediawan Group, Les Films Entre 2&4 is more than ever committed to a diverse, demanding, and free production approach, attentive to unique styles and increasingly international in scope, with a desire to combine the best talent with French expertise.”

Last week, Broadcast International revealed Mediawan was combining its distribution team with that of Leonine Studios, which it fully acquired in 2024.
