Stellify Media’s docudrama sells to Latin America, US and Europe

Stellify Media’s four-part BBC docudrama Titanic Sinks Tonight has been picked up by a slew of international broadcasters, including National Geographic and HBO Max.
Nat Geo will air the series in the US from 22 June, while it will broadcast across Latin America on HBO Max. It will be available to watch in Belgium, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain on MGM+.
BeIN has acquired it for the Middle East, North Africa and Türkiye and the series has also been sold to TVNZ (New Zealand), Now TV (Hong Kong SAR), KT Genie TV (South Korea), Wowo (Japan), RTÉ (Ireland), TV2 (Hungary), Telia Estonia (Estonia), Telia Play (Lithuania), Tet+ (Latvia), DR (Denmark), NRK (Norway) and SVT (Sweden).
The series was made by Sony Television Pictures (SPT)-backed indie Stellify for BBC Factual and BBC Northern Ireland, SBS Australia and ARTE Germany and Belgium, and, as of May 2026, has become the BBC’s highest-rated history doc of 2025-26.
Titanic Sinks Tonight recounts the final hours of the famous ship through the experiences and personal testimony of the passengers and crew who were there. It was filmed in Northern Ireland using cutting-edge virtual production technology at Studio Ulster with support from Northern Ireland Screen.
Jason Spivak and Mike Wald, co-presidents, distribution and networks, SPT, said: “The strong international response to Titanic Sinks Tonight reflects the global appetite for premium, differentiated storytelling that can travel across platforms and territories.
“With its innovative production approach and compelling subject matter, the series has resonated strongly with viewers in the UK and with global partners. We can’t wait for audiences worldwide to experience the Titanic story in an entirely new way.”
Stellify co-chief execs Kieran Doherty and Matthew Worthy, who also exec produced the series, added: “This project was a true passion project for us at Stellify, and to be able to make this series right here in Belfast, where the Titanic’s own story began, makes it extra special.
“With investment from the BBC, SPT and NI Screen, it shows what a world-class base Belfast is for global production, and we are looking forward to taking this original approach to telling stories from other chapters of history.”
The series was commissioned for the BBC by Jack Bootle, head of commissioning, specialist factual and Eddie Doyle, head of content commissioning, BBC Northern Ireland. Fiona Keane is the executive producer for BBC Northern Ireland and Simon Young is the commissioning editor for BBC Factual. International funding from the series is being provided by SPT, ARTE and SBS Australia.
