Filming begins on hit French series with star Omar Sy’s Carrousel joining production alongside Gaumont
Netflix’s French hit Lupin is returning for a fourth run with star Omar Sy’s nascent venture Carrousel Studios joining the production alongside Gaumont.
Filming on the 8 x 45-minute series is already underway in Paris, with Sy reprising his role as Assane Diop, the gentleman thief whose exploits are inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s iconic literary creation Arsène Lupin.
Announcing the order today, Netflix said: “The Lupin saga constantly surprises with its plot twists and captivating characters, all set against the enchanting backdrop of Paris”.
Lupin is created by UK screenwriter George Kay, in collaboration with François Uzan, and with the participation of Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer and Tigran Rosine.
Narcos outfit Gaumont co-produces with Carrousel, which was founded last year by Sy, Pulse Films co-founder Thomas Benski and director, and frequent Sy collaborator, Louis Leterrier.
Leterrier and Sy will showrun part four, which is written Mathilde Arnaud, Jean-Yves Arnaud, Florent Meyer, Tigran Rosine, and Pennda Ba. Edouard Salier, Everardo Gout and Hugo Gelin direct.
Joining Sy among the cast are Ludivine Sagnier, Antoine Gouy, Soufiane Guerrab, Shirine Boutella, Théo Christine, Laïka Blanc-Francard.
