Ku’damm 77 leads ZDFS’s Mipcom slate
ZDF Studios is leading its Mipcom slate with scripted family saga Ku’damm 77, alongside premium kids shows The Lady Grace Mysteries.
The drama, which is having a premiere at the Cannes event, is the sequel to Ku’damm 56, 59 and 63, now set in 1977 and epxloring life in a divided Berlin. Fremantle’s UFA Fiction produce for ZDF.
Detective drama The Puzzle Lady, produced by Factual Fiction and December Films, is also headed to Mipcom alongside crime show Weiss & Morales, which was produced for ZDF and Spain’s RTVE by Portocabo, Nadcon and ZDF Studios.
Other scripted shows include Aussie series Top End Bub from Goalpost Pictures, while premium kids detective series The Lady Grace Mysteries is adapted from the children’s novels and produced by Cottonwood Media and Coolabi Group. The unscripted slate includes Pharaohs at War, produced by Pernel Media, and Into the Universe, which dives into the mysteries of space.
NFL’s Super Bowl Champions land with Banijay
Banijay Rights and Banijay Americas label BD4 have struck a deal to represent a collection of NFL films that dive into each Super Bowl champion from the last four decades.
The exclusive agreement with NFL Films, brokered by Dan Silver of BD4, will see Banijay Rights handling global distribution for Super Bowl Champions.
The docs, which track the season of each Super Bowl-winning team since 1985, are being sold to international linear and digital buyers for the very first time, with the collection also part of Banijay Rights’ line-up for Mipcom next month.
All3, WBITVP execs to lead FRAPA board
FRAPA, the Format Recognition and Protection Association, has named Warner Bros. International Television Production (WBITVP)’s André Renaud and All3Media’s Nick Smith as co-chairs of its management board.
It has also named Richard Ager, Fremantle’s exec vice president of legal and business affairs for global entertainment, as its treasurer.
The moves comes after industry veterans Phil Gurin and Lisette van Diepen confirmed they would be stepping down from FRAPA’s board earlier this year.
BBCS retains £5m Rip Off Britain contract
BBC Studios has won a competitive tender process to retain the near-£5m contract to produce Rip Off Britain.
The long-running BBC1 daytime consumer show, which first aired in 2009, investigates scams and bad financial practices. It was put out to tender in February.
The £4.8m contract comprises 90 episodes across two years – three series of 15 x 45-minute episodes per year – airing from Spring 2026. The budget is worth £53,500 per episode, with a total of up to £2,407,500 per year. Read more
Sixteen South lands first third-party sales deal
Northern Ireland’s Sixteen South has secured its first third-party distribution rights deal, picking up preschool animated series Mixmups.
The 52 x 10-minute series was commissioned by 5’s Milkshake in the UK and is produced by Mackinnon & Saunders (Pinocchio), having been created and written by Rebecca Atkinson.
The stop-motion, CGI and 2D animation series has already screened on TVO and Knowledge in Canada, RTÉ in Ireland and in Australia, where it launched on ABC. It follows the adventures of three pre-school friends: neat and tidy Pockets; creative and inventive Giggle; and boisterous and physical Spin.
