The Nest Productions founder on Muppets, greyhounds and zen moments

Earliest memory
Watching The Muppet Babies and wondering what the nanny actually looked like.
Growing up I…
Wanted to be an arti st – to this day, my ‘get out of TV’ job is owning a gallery.

My big break
Working on My Parents Are Aliens back in 2001. It started a career for me in scripted, which I sti ll look back on fondly.
Massive mistake
Saying yes to a project I didn’t believe in, just because it was shiny. Lesson learned: always trust your gut.
Scariest experience
A shoot where the director decided to set up on quicksand.
Most annoying habit
I’m extremely impatient, which drives my colleagues crazy. It’s always meant with the best intentions, but I can’t stand slowness or ghosting when people don’t get back to me.
I’m happiest when I’m…
Surrounded by lovely people who make me laugh

Passion outside TV
Keeping life simple. Going on lovely country pub walks with my partner and our retired greyhound, Tom.
Career ambition
To run a greyhound café. Think cat café, but with lovely, retired greyhounds lying around. Bliss.
How I deal with stress
I go on an annual meditation retreat to the Sharpham Trust in Devon. You leave your mobile at the door and there is no wi-fi , no TV, no outside stresses. I always come back feeling super zen.
If I were DG for a day…
I genuinely think I could save millions by restructuring the dead wood. But honestly? I’d flip the main base to Scotland and have everything feed off that. Time to decentralise and let fresh, regional perspectives lead the charge.
Born and bred
Glasgow, Scotland, which I’m extremely proud to call home.
