BBC Sport racks up 20 million views of its Women’s Rugby World Cup 2025 coverage on social media alone
BBC Sport has revealed its content around the Women’s Rugby World Cup has received more than 20 million views on social media alone.
This content includes viral videos and “powerful storytelling” to live coverage and explainers.
Some of the most-watched social clips (combined figures across BBC Sport TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and X) include:
- Ilona Maher’s message around food and body positivity generated over 2.26 million views.
- “Memories that last a lifetime” – a clip of a young mascot at the Scotland v Wales game got 1.89 million views.
- Ellie Kildunne’s setup for Jess Breach in England’s victory over the USA delivered 1.41 million views.
- An explainer on flashing mouthguards – new tech designed to monitor player safety – drew 1.09 million views.
- “A Black fern forever” – Ruby Tui joining in with the Black Fern’s haka received 1.04 million views
Meanwhile, on the BBC Sport website and app, the England v USA match generated 757,000 live page views. And there have been a combined 5.8 million streams of matches on the BBC iPlayer and Sport app so far.
The tournament has also reached 7.1 million viewers on BBC TV during the opening stages.
On top of this, there has been almost 700,000 views of clips from the new BBC Radio 5 Live women’s rugby podcast Barely Rugby across social media platforms.
