Betty Glover and Anne Onwusiri host show made in partnership with World Rugby
Crowd Network is producing the official Women’s Rugby World Cup podcast in partnership with World Rugby.
It is the first official podcast to focus solely on the Women’s Rugby World Cup, with World Rugby Studios previously producing one for the men’s version of the competition.
The Official Rugby World Cup 2025 Podcast presented by Asahi Super Dry is hosted by Betty Glover and Anne Onwusiri, and launched with its first episode on 13 August. Further episodes will be released every Wednesday during the tournament, which takes place in England and runs from 22 August until 27 September.
In addition to Glover and Onwusiri, there will be other contributors such as 2024 World Rugby Women’s 15s player of the year Ellie Kildunne, who will provide behind-the-scenes insights into life in the England Red Roses camp. Pundits, former players like Shaunagh Brown, and rugby influencers will also star in episodes.
Glover has appeared regularly on TV and radio on shows including Final Score and Football Focus and reporting for BBC Radio 5 Live on the Women’s Super League. She was part of BBC Sport’s reporting team at the 2024 Paris Olympics and was the lead presenter for BBC Sport’s 2023 Netball World Cup coverage.
Meanwhile, Onwusiri is the founder of Black Girls Ruck RFC, the first rugby team for Black women and non-binary people, which is advancing diversity and equity in sport.
World Rugby chief communications officer Dominic Rumbles said: “Women’s sport is driving the reach, value, and impact of sport worldwide, and 2025 will be the biggest year yet for women’s rugby. Women’s Rugby World Cup England 2025 will be more than a record-breaking event: it will be bold, loud, and proud, showcasing powerful player personalities with authentic opinions on issues that resonate far beyond sport.
“The Official Rugby World Cup 2025 Podcast presented by Asahi Super Dry, amplified through Crowd Network’s exceptional reach, will capture that same bold spirit through great storytelling, insight, and debate. It is a must-listen for anyone who loves the game, or simply loves hearing from incredible athletes and personalities.”
Louise Gwilliam, talent manager at Crowd Network, said: “It’s a huge year for women’s sports in the UK, and we’re right at the heart of it. Our women’s sports podcasts have gone from strength to strength, and it’s a real privilege to be partnering with World Rugby on its official podcast for this year’s Women’s Rugby World Cup. Hosting a home tournament is an incredible opportunity for women’s rugby in this country, and we challenge brands to rise to the occasion by meaningfully investing into women’s sports to facilitate its continued growth.”
