It has secured a deal with the French Professional Football League for the distribution of its new streaming service, Ligue 1+
DAZN has announced a new partnership with the French Professional Football League (LFP) for the distribution of Ligue 1+, the new channel launched by the LFP to broadcast Ligue 1 football.
Through the new partnership, DAZN subscribers will still be able to access Ligue 1 McDonald’s from 15 August, through to 2029.
Back in May, DAZN terminated its broadcast contract with LFP after one season of showing Ligue 1. DAZN reportedly had to pay Ligue 1 a breakage fee of €100m, and said Ligue 1 will have to either find a new broadcast partner or go D2C.
Ligue 1+ is the LFP’s newly-created D2C streaming platform, which launches on 15 August, delivering eight exclusive live matches every weekend and a ninth match offered as an on-demand replay.
DAZN has also announced an agreement with Lega Serie A. For the 2025–2026 season, DAZN will broadcast all Serie A Championship matches in France, Monaco, Andorra, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United States (including U.S. territories and the Caribbean, in Spanish only).
It will also provide full coverage of the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana in France, Monaco, and Andorra, while offering extended highlights rights across nearly all global territories.
DAZN has also acquired global highlights rights (excluding Italy, Republic of San Marino, Vatican City, and the MENA region) for the Serie A Championship, Coppa Italia, and Supercoppa Italiana, including in France.
Highlights will be available one hour after the final whistle, in two- to three-minute formats per match, depending on the region.
Brice Daumin, CEO, DAZN France, said: “DAZN is delighted with this new partnership with the French Professional Football League (or LFP Media). I thank the LFP, LFP Media, Nicolas de Tavernost, and all the clubs for the quality of our discussions and for their trust. This agreement is fully in line with our ambition to make the best sports content accessible to our subscribers and strengthens our position as a long-term partner of French football. DAZN is continuing and accelerating its growth in France, as demonstrated by the acquisition of full broadcasting rights for Serie A and Italian football starting next season.”
