TNT Sports has announced details of its feature-length documentary, Lewis Moody vs MND.

The filmmakers had unique access to the former England rugby captain following his diagnosis with motor neurone disease (MND) last October. The 60-minute film takes viewers inside the personal, medical and scientific realities of the disease, while following Moody’s search for answers and hope for the future.

Lewis Moody MBE is a Rugby World Cup winner, England captain and Leicester Tigers legend. In the film, Moody and his wife Annie open their lives to the cameras at the beginning of an uncertain journey. They speak candidly about the diagnosis, its impact on their family and the questions they now face about the future, allowing viewers into private moments that would ordinarily remain unseen.

Moody meets doctors, scientists, researchers and experts working to understand and treat MND. He explores why the disease happens, studying the latest research and drug trials, and what can be done to help people diagnosed in the future.

The film also brings together some of those who know Lewis best, with Martin Johnson, Leon Lloyd and Geordan Murphy offering personal reflections on him as a teammate, leader and close friend.

Scott Young, EVP, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, said: “Lewis Moody’s story is one of extraordinary courage, resilience and emotion which will resonate with many suffering with MND every day.

“Lewis and his family have opened their lives to help others understand the reality of MND, and we are proud to help share their journey with viewers across the UK and beyond. It is a true privilege that Lewis has allowed TNT Sports inside his life, and we believe we have delivered a narrative with honesty, depth and purpose. We pride ourselves as expert storytellers, elevating powerful narratives that inspire and connect audiences through stories which deserve to be told.”

Lewis Moody vs MND will premiere on TNT Sports and HBO Max in September, ahead of the 2026/27 PREM Rugby season.
