BT has poached C4 International's sales manager, Alison Sainsbury-Stack, as head of programme acquisitions of its Television Services business.

In her new role Sainsbury-Stack will be responsible for managing the licensing of television programming, movies and music from a range of UK and international right-owners including broadcasters, indies, distributors, studios and independent film producers as well as music companies.

She had been with the commercial distribution arm of C4 for nine years where she was responsible for sales of C4 commissioned and licensed programming to the UK cable and satellite markets. She was also responsible for some of C4's video-on-demand deals.

Starting imminently, Sainsbury-Stack will report to Karen Saunders, who joins BT later in 2005 as head of programming and acquisitions from Sky, where she was head of Pay Per View.

BT has been staffing up in preparation for the launch of its IPTV service next summer. Other recent appointments include Lib Charlesworth as head of marketing and sales, having previously been general manager of Freeview, two Hallmark staffers, Matt Woods to head of customer marketing and Luba Kassova as head of research and Bobbie Fox from TCM to head of film.
