Channel 4 dramas This is England ’88 and Top Boy will square off against BBC1’s Sherlock at this year’s South Bank Sky Arts Awards.
The shows are in the running for best TV drama at the awards, which span art froms from classical and pop music to literature, theatre, film and visual art.
The nomination for This is England ’88 follows last year’s win for Shane Meadows and his team at Warp Films for the ’86 series of the drama.
In comedy, C4’s Fresh Meat has secured a nomination for its first series. It faces competition from the first series of BBC4’s Olympics comedy Twenty Twelve and series two of BBC2’s Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle.
Call the Midwife star Jessica Raine is representing TV in the Times Breakthrough Award list, where she is up against the likes of comedian Adam Riches and film star - and former actress in Radio 4’s The Archers - Felicity Jones.
In the film category, Joe Cornish’s Attack the Block, funded by Film4, is up against BBC Films’ We Need to Talk About Kevin and Working Title’s documentary feature Senna.
The awards, presented by Melvyn Bragg, returned to Sky Arts last year and will be aired live on the channel on 1 May.
