Channel 4 has partnered with the Imperial War Museum to launch online, Lost Generation, a 21st Century war memorial.

The deal will see details of First World War memorials and the names recorded on them accessible online for the first time. Viewers will be able to upload pictures and documents to the site, creating a 'living war memorial'.

C4 approached the UK National Inventory of War Memorials to make the information accessible.

The Lost Generation website will be launched to coincide with a new First World War season on C4 focusing on the Battle of the Somme and the effects of the war on the social fabric of modern Britain.
