The Gorilla Group has acquired Soho post-production outfit The Joint.

The Cardiff-based facilities firm described the undisclosed investment in The Joint as “key to the group’s expansion plans”.

“We see a Soho base, with connectivity to our Cardiff facilities, as vital to our future growth plans,” said Gorilla Group managing director Richard Moss.

“It will also provide huge benefits for both companies.”

The Joint’s management and creative team will remain in place, with technical support from Gorilla.

Some of the investment from the deal will be used to develop The Joint’s technical infrastructure, allowing the two facilities to collaborate on future productions.

A unnamed documentary by Oxford Scientific Films for Channel 4 will be one of the first combined efforts.

Moss added: “The Joint mirrored our own beginnings in style, attitude and creativity and we instantly gelled.

“It is very much a talent-led company and [The Joint managing director] Sarah Mackay and the team impressed us so much we just knew this deal, which has been several months in the planning, was going to happen from our first meeting.”

Gorilla Group, formerly known as Mwnci, has provided picture post-production for Stella (Sky1) and location post services for the Quiksilver Pro Surfing tournament (pictured).

The Joint’s credits include Coldplay Live 2012 (DVD and the BBC) and Raymond Blanc’s How To Cook Well (BBC).
