Channel 4 has appointed Charlotte Light to the position of controller of systems delivery.

In the newly create role, which replaces the position of chief information officer, Light will manage the work of the broadcaster’s systems delivery teams.

She will also be responsible for determining and delivering Channel 4’s technology roadmap across all areas of the business, specifically Channel 4’s Ad sales, Content and Rights Management, Corporate and All 4 divisions.

The chief information officer role was held by Kevin Gallagher who left Channel 4 earlier this year for a new role with the government.

Light will report to Channel 4 director of strategy and technology Keith Underwood.

Underwood said: “Charlotte is an excellent fit for Channel 4 and brings a wealth of systems delivery discipline and expertise to the business.

“In this role, Charlotte takes leadership of a first class team with a strong track record of delivering a wide range of ground-breaking technical solutions.”

Previously, Light was IT director for Corporate Services and Global Supply Chain at Specsavers where she ran programme delivery of retail systems and was responsible for the overhaul of major systems.

She has also worked at Bupa and IBM in a business development, technical sales and marketing capacity.

Light will take up her new role on Monday 16.
