Chef partners with manufacturer on two parter with tips and hacks
Jamie Oliver is set to jump into the world of Air Fryer cooking with a two-part series for Channel 4.
The celebrity chef’s indie Jamie Oliver Productions is partnering with manufacturer Tefal for Jamie’s Air-Fryer Meals.
The 2 x 60-minute AFP series features Oliver showing viewers tips and hacks on how to use the kitchen appliance, as well as four to five recipes an episode - from grilled courgettes and aubergines, to a cooked whole roast chicken and even a baked Alaska.
He will be joined in each episode by a guest chef with specialist air frying skills. TikTok influencer and Michelin-trained chef Poppy O’Toole will showcase the versatility of potatoes done in the air fryer, while author and cook Sabrina Gidda will bring an air-fryer twist to lamb chops.
Jamie’s Air Fryer Meals was commissioned for C4 by Tim Hancock, commissioning editor of factual entertainment. Katie Millard exec produces, with Delia Williams series producing and Ed St Giles directing. It is set to TX this spring.
Hancock promised that Oliver will show viewers how to “make the most of” the increasingly popular kitchen appliance.
Millard added: ”Jamie’s air-fryer recipes are already a huge hit on our website, with over 500,000 views so far. Working with our long term partner Tefal, Jamie was able to respond to the huge public demand for more air fryer recipes and loved every second developing the new recipes. As this series will show, there is so much more to an air fryer than nuggets and chips.”
Christophe Leblan, managing director of Tefal, said that the programme builds on the cookware manufacturer’s established relationship with Oliver and hopes that the series will inspire consumers to “get creative” with air fryers.
The commission builds on a trend of programming dedicated to the ubiquitous kitchen gadget. C4 broadcast Ricochet’s Air Fryers: Are They Worth It? in August, while Channel 5 has aired four documentaries on the machine since December, with a fifth, Air Fryers: Do You Have the Right One?, announced this week.
