Federico Ruiz to work across the C5 portfolio and upcoming Paramount+
Firecracker Films head of factual entertainment Federico Ruiz has joined the Channel 5 commissioning team as commissioning editor for factual and non-scripted.

Ruiz will report to Paramount’s chief content officer Ben Frow. and will order titles across the C5 portfolio and the streaming service Paramount+.
His appointment follows the departure of commissioning editor Emma Westcott, who had worked with the broadcaster for almost a decade.
Ruiz has worked at the Stacey Dooley Sleeps Over producer Firecracker Films for nine years, overseeing the company’s factual entertainment output and exec producing series for Channel 5 and 5 Star including The Town The Gypsies Took Over and Dale Farm: The Great Gypsy Eviction.
Further executive producer credits include Emily Atack: Adulting for UKTV, Open House: The Great Sex Experiment for Channel 4 and upcoming documentary Vicky Pattinson: My Dad, Alcohol and Me which will also air on Channel 4.

Frow said that Ruiz “brings a wealth of talent and factual experience and will be a great asset to our expanding team.”
Ruiz added that the move felt like “a natural fit” after having made a number of series for Frow. He said: “I’m super excited to join a team which is firing on all cylinders and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
