Two documentaries about the devastating tsunami that hit Japan in March have been sold by Cineflix International Distribution to broadcasters around the world.

The distributor has sold the fast-turnaround films, both made by ITN Productions, into territories spanning the US, Middle East and Europe.

The first, Tsunami Search And Rescue, was originally commissioned by Channel 5 and aired in April. The hour-long film has been picked up by Fox Latin America, covering more than 40 territories, as well as SBS Australia, Russia’s Silver Box and Turkey’s Aljazeera Network.

It has also been acquired by VMMA Belgium, RTL Tvi Luxembourg, Origo Hungary and Barrandov TV Czech Republic.

All the broadcasters, with the exception of VMMA, have also bought Nuclear Meltdown, which details the unfolding disaster at the Fukushima plant.

It marks the first distribution deal between ITN Productions and Cineflix International, which was brokered by Cineflix head of acquisitions Nicola Andrews. No UK broadcaster is currently attached.
