Inferno artist Simon Huhtala has completed the buyout of visual effects house Clear, saving 32 jobs.

Clear Ltd went into administration on Monday (11 July). Huhtala and five other creatives bought the leases and contracts directly from the administrator this week operating as a new company. Huhtala has taken over as managing director but is understood to be recruiting a facility manager for day-to-day management.

However, the 14 staff axed without pay by former managing director Greg Caplan may still find themselves out of pocket. Huhtala, who is friends with some of the staff laid off, said: "The new Clear is not in the position to pay outstanding wages. We're liaising with the administrator, Hacker Young, which is in control of the situation."

Caplan is not a part of the new set-up. Huhtala would not disclose the finances of the deal but said that no further cuts would be made.
