Coronation Street going tapeless with Avid

By Will2008-01-31T14:59:16+00:00

Avid, the manufacturer of digital media creation tools, is helping ITV flagship soap Coronation Street to move to a shared storage based tapeless production environment.

The ITV Productions team making the soap is currently in the process of moving from individual editing workstations to using a central storage set-up that will eventually result in a totally tapeless workflow.

Avidkit, including Script Sync, Interplay and Media Composer, will play a significant part in this new set-up.

Coronation Street is produced from Granada in Manchester.

Visitors to Broadcast Live and Video Forum this week can find out more about how the set-up at Corrie is working during Media Composer and Script Sync demos on the Avid stand.

Script Sync allows scripts or transcripts to be imported into Avid editors. The scripts can then used to automatically organize takes and shots to allow users to instantly see what coverage is available for each part of a scene

Avid Unity shared media networks offer real-time, simultaneous collaboration for all video resolutions, including high-efficiency Avid DNxHD and uncompressed HD media.

Working hand-in-hand with Avid Unity, Avid Interplay tools streamline collaboration and asset management, automate workflow, and eliminate time-consuming production tasks.
