Prime Focus has recruited Barney Curnow to the newly created role of VFX supervisor.

The post facility is bolstering its broadcast VFX team to work on unnamed UK and US TV productions which are due to TX later this year.

Curnow joins Prime Focus having spent almost seven years at The Mill, where he supervised TV projects including Doctor Who, Torchwood and Merlin (pictured), which won a Bafta for Outstanding Visual Effects last year.

He is one of a raft of new recruits, with Hazel Baird joining Prime Focus as motion graphics director.

Head of 3D Nuno Pereira recently joined the facility from MPC, while technical director Denis-Jose Francois has been hired from Jellyfish.

Prime Focus said its broadcast team in London would work closely with the new VFX team at the company’s New York facility, which will officially launch this week.
