Left Bank developing series version of 2006 Christmas film

Apple TV+ UK is planning a series adaptation of Christmas move The Holiday, with a new cast of characters.
The tech giant confirmed the proposed re-versioning of the 2006 Nancy Meyers movie, which starred Kate Winslet, Jack Black, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law, is to be produced by Dept. Q indie Left Bank Pictures with writer and executive producer Krissie Ducker, who wrote Sky original Sweetpea.
The limited series, the news of which was first reported by Deadline, will copy the premise of the film, which follows a British woman and an American woman who agree to swap houses for the festive season in a bid to escape their disastrous love lives. Set between LA and London, the two women find romance and new friendships in each other’s very different worlds.

Meyers wrote, directed and produced the film but will have no involvement in the series, while Catastrophe writer and star Rob Delaney has been brought on as a consultant.
The search is underway in the UK and US for well-known actresses to play the lead, with the series expected to be commissioned if, and when, they are secured. The adaptation will come from Apple TV+’s UK arm, rather than its US headquarters, and would follow other domestic series including The Essex Serpent, Criminal Record, Prime Target and hit returner Slow Horses.
Ducker served as a writer’s assistant on Catastrophe alongside Delaney, has was also written and executive produced Prime Video series The Assassin.
