A converter, launched at NAB this week, that allows broadcasters and facilities to use off-the-shelf monitors for high-end applications.

What does it do? BrightEye 72 converts a 3Gb/s, HD or SD SDI video signal to an HDMI signal that can be fed into most consumer monitors. It provides colour correction for studio applications and caption decoding for verifying 608 or 708 closed caption content.

Any other features? In addition to the video output, time code burn-in and Active Format Descriptor (AFD) presence are also indicated on-screen. Embedded audio can be verified with the on-screen audio meters.
