Post-production and hire company Films at 59 has won a three-year contract to service the BBC’s new Roath Lock studios in Cardiff.

The Bristol-based firm will provide the 170,000 sq ft Cardiff Bay facility with camera equipment from the beginning of September.

Under the deal, which could be extended by two years, the firm will supply five studios.

Films at 59 managing director Gina Fucci said: “We will provide equipment for BBC productions on the site, and if there are independents using the studios for their shows, we hope to provide them with kit as well.”

Films at 59 will mainly supply Arri Alexa cameras (pictured), with eight already arrived from an order of 12.

The new studios will be home to flagship BBC programmes such as Casualty, Pobol y Cwm and Doctor Who.
