DVD authoring company The Pavement has added a Thomson Nexcode encoding system to its new Blu-ray production facilities.

The new suite, according to the Pavement, will provide “optimum pictures for all content challenges from animations to low-light concert conditions.”

Master formats accepted include HDCAM SR and HDCAM.

“By offering the proven HD encoding performance from Thomson's NexCode system, The Pavement takes a big leap forward” said Deepak Sharma, Thomson NexCode product line manager.

“First in the UK equipped with Nexcode, The Pavement ensures content owners are guaranteed the best Blu-ray picture quality - a key element of the company's market reputation - and indeed a real endorsement for Thomson NexCode.”

The Pavement is also attempting to extend its market reach by offering its HD/Blu-ray, SD, VoD, iTunes and mobile encoding services to distribution clients as well as other authoring and post-production companies.

The Pavement provides animation, design, DVD authoring, editing, multi-media and production services for the broadcast, commercials, film and new media markets.

Long-term plans include working closely with its post-production partners, Goldcrest - with whom the company shares a building in Soho - to expand operations in the US.
