Manchester post facility Flix is opening another office at the city’s MediaCityUK campus.

The company’s new base will house CGI and GFX stations as well as two online suites, and is in addition to its current Atkinson Street office.

Managing director Leo Casserly told Broadcast the past six months had been a period of significant growth for the business.

“We’re in our 20th year and for the first 16 years we had a very good story to tell, working on kids’ shows such as Dangermouse and Count Duckula. But that dropped off when Cosgrove Hall ceased trading,” Casserly said.

“A lot of that work has now come back online and we’ve picked up loads of business in the past few months, including four 52 x 10-minute programmes [Postman Pat SDS, Toby’s Travelling Circus, Cloudbabies and Tree Fu Tom], which we’re doing all picture and audio post for, as well as the CGI and GFX work. Those programmes have filled this building to capacity.”

Flix, which will move into the 750 sq ft premises this weekend, is installing Smoke and Nitris DS stations and Maya-equipped Macs.

It will recruit four full-time staff with another four on contract.

Flix sublets part of its Atkinson Street office space to production firm Nine Lives, as well as to Endemol for the latest series of Snog, Marry, Avoid.
