Japanese firm Flovel has teamed up with FOR-A Corporation to launch the FZ-B1 high-sensitivity HD camera.

Flovel said it has “unprecedented low-light sensitivity” of 0.01 lux which would make it ideal for nighttime nature video production.

“No other camera on the market offers such high-quality HD color video reproduction at such low-light levels as mere moonlight,” said Flovel general manager Susumu Hotta.

Based on Flovel’s 2/3-inch CMOS 1.3 megapixel EM-CCD sensor the camera shoots 1080/59.94i, 1080/50i, 720p/60p and 720/50p.

It can also be paired with a C Mount lens.

It has a suggested starting price of $30,000 (£18,700) and will be available from the beginning of November.

Flovel added that it is developing a new 8K camera for research and large-screen applications.

FOR-A is the distributor of Flovel cameras in Europe, the US, Middle East, Africa, and sections of Asia.
