Former Ascent Media creative services managing director Paul Jones has joined web hosting and streaming video provider Astream as its new head of sales.

Jones has 18 years experience in the media and entertainment industry having worked at Rushes, One Post, Soho 601 and Ascent Media.

He said of his new appointment: “The proliferation of broadband coupled with the projected uptake of 3G in the mobile world creates a myriad of opportunities for media owners, especially in Web and Mobile TV.

“This is an exciting time to become involved in this space as broadcasting is revolutionised and I am delighted to be able to work alongside the award winning team here at Astream”

“Although I loved my time in the [post] industry and have been doing some consultancy since I left Ascent, I felt that it was time to move into new areas and there is real growth in multimedia and mobile.”

Astream offers clients Internet and mobile phone broadcasting services including web hosting and streaming.

It was named the Best Streaming Provider by the Internet Service Provider Association (ISPA) in 2007 and 2008.
