US network Fox has passed on a planned remake of Doctor Who spin-off Torchwood.
BBC Worldwide Productions had been in talks about a 13-part series that would remodel the BBC show for a US audience, with former BBC head of fiction Jane Tranter leading the negotiations.
But in a statement, BBCW said: “BBC Worldwide Productions and the Fox Broadcasting Company have mutually agreed not to progress together with a 13-episode serialized Torchwood format.”
It added that it was now in talks with “several interested networks” about taking on the project.
Tranter, who is now BBCW executive vice-president of programming and production, told the Hollywood Reporter: “It’s very much ongoing and very much alive.”
