Brief Post-production on a 3 x 60-minute series in which biologist and presenter Liz Bonnin and a team of scientists journey across the Galapagos Islands.

How it was done Content was acquired in various 4K raw formats, shot using cameras made by Red, Sony and DJI. Colourist Graeme Hayes, using Baselight, found the unprocessed footage very useful, particularly for the dark underwater dive shots.

Using ISO and exposure settings, Hayes was able to grade shots to increase their impact but with the bare minimum of visual noise, something that would have been more diffi cult with a ‘baked in’ codec. Dan Preston-Bear took a naturalistic approach to the online edit to allow the viewer to focus on the subject matter.

Zoo VFX designed and delivered the graphics for the series.
