The Picture Canning Company has done all the outside broadcast camera work on the BBC's new primetime Saturday night show Here Comes the Sun. Produced by 12 Yard Productions, the 8 x 50-minute show sees two families each week battling against each other to win a timeshare apartment for life. Picture Canning was brought in early on by 12 Yard to help with the logistics of the shoot. As a mix of gameshow and fly-on-the-wall, it needed both multi-camera and single-camera set-ups. To give this flexibility and increase speed of rigging, a unit of Betacam SX recorders was set up which could be used singly or together with a specially built five-camera OB truck using fibre-optic links. Here Comes the Sun airs from November.
