Director general to front closing session of regional event
Tim Davie joins Wales Screen Summit line-up
BBC director general Tim Davie will headling the closing session of this year’s Wales Screen Summit. He will take part in a fireside chat with host Steffan Powell to discuss the future of broadcasting and the BBC’s place within it, as well as outline the PSB’s vision in an increasingly digital-first world. Davie will also talk about audience reach, funding and trust. The Wales Screen Summit takes place at The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff across 7 and 8 October.
Production Park to host The Voice final shows
Regional production facility Production Park has unveiled its first major project with ITV, having been chosen to host the semi-final and final of The Voice UK. Yorkshire-based Production Park will record the final episodes of the Lifted Entertainment music competition tentpole later this year in front of an audience of around 500 people. The set will be built in Studio 005 at Production Park with Studio 001 used as a main production area. The studio complex is near Wakefield in West Yorkshire and has previously hosted projects such as Netflix’s hit series Adolescence. The Voice has previously filmed its finals at Dock 10 in Salford, where the rest of the upcoming series will be filmed.
Banijay Asia preps Race to Space
Thailand’s TrueVisions NOW is working with Banijay Asia on a format that is set to send the first Thai citizen into space. Race to Space Thailand comes from Banijay Asia and SERA (Space Exploration & Research Agency), and is being produced by Deepak Dhar’s CreAsia Studio. SERA will work alongside CreAsia Studio on the show, which will combine “science, aspiration and entertainment” as a citizen trains and prepares for the trip into space. The format will also be rolled into other countries across South East Asia.
