The International Association of Broadcasting Manufacturers (IABM) has appointed Darren Whitehead to the role of director of business development.

Whitehead joins the IABM from broadcast trade show and conference IBC, where he worked for the past eight years.

IABM chief executive Peter White said: “With all that IABM offers today, it is important that we have someone who can develop a coordinated strategy for business growth and market development.

“Darren has the strengths in these key areas to help IABM progress. His knowledge of the industry, and the strong relationships he has built, will enable us to move forward more quickly and assuredly than before.”

Whitehead has been tasked with leading the IABM’s efforts to move from a “service-oriented beneficial approach to a sales-oriented customer service approach”.

The IABM said he will also identify opportunities for growth in existing and new revenue streams.

Whitehead added: “I have known IABM for all the years I have been in the industry, and greatly respect the work it does and the unique place it holds in the market.

“Over the last few years, IABM has grown in stature and influence, and we have an ambitious development plan centred around the continued international growth of the Association. I am looking forward to help take the Association to the next level.”
