A total of 48,521 people attended IBC in Amsterdam this year, a rise of nearly nine per cent on 2009.

The improved attendance figure, which includes all parts of the IBC community including exhibition visitors and conference attendees, makes the show the second biggest IBC in history.

IBC chief executive Michael Crimp said: “One of our biggest challenges is in reflecting the way that the industry is changing, with much more focus on strategic decisions about technology and growth.

“With decision-making moving upwards within an organisation, IBC has to be relevant to CEOs who previously might not have had it on their radar.

“The level of attendance and engagement at IBC this year is a clear indication that our industry is robust, recovering well and driven by continuing advances in technology and creativity.”

IBC 2011 will take place in Amsterdam from 8-13 September.
