Paul Hughes promoted to supercharge slate
Robot Wars indie Mentorn Media has appointed its first head of development under managing director Celia Taylor.
Paul Hughes has been promoted from his role as the indie’s senior development producer to supercharge Mentorn’s development slate, focusing on returnable factual entertainment and entertainment formats.
He replaces Tinopolis central development director Simon Horne, who had taken on responsibility for Mentorn following the departure of Matt Clifton last year.
Taylor said he would build on the business’ relationships with UK and US broadcasters.
“Paul has an infectious passion for making great shows and is bursting with ideas, so he’s the perfect fit for Mentorn’s talented development team,” she added.
Hughes, who joined Mentorn last year, has previously worked in development roles for Zig Zag, Twofour, Remarkable Productions and the BBC.
Taylor, a former head of non-scripted programming for Sky, joined the Tinopolis-backed indie late last year.
As well as the BBC2 entertainment reboot Robot Wars, it is also responsible for BBC1’s Question Time, ITV’s Inside London Fire Brigade and Channel 5’s Traffic Cops.
