Former Mentorn head of entertainment launches Glasgow-based indie
The former executive producer of Robot Wars has established a Glasgow-based entertainment indie.
Andrew Robertson, who left Mentorn Media at the start of the year, ahead of the cancellation of BBC2’s battle-bot format, has set up Very Nice with Henry Imbert, a former series producer on the show.
The pair originally worked together at Endemol and were among the team responsible for creating the playalong game for Remarkable’s Channel 4 gameshow Million Pound Drop.
Managing director Robertson was promoted to the head of entertainment role for Mentorn in December 2016 after a year with the firm.
A former creative director at STV, he has also worked at Tigress and Zeppotron and spent five years at Endemol exec producing shows including Big Brother.
Creative director Imbert has a decade of experience at businesses including Princess Productions, Shine, Little Dot and ITV.
Robertson said Very Nice is the first Scottish-based indie to be focused purely on entertainment shows.
“We have a huge amount of production experience and we want to build on that and make great shows that are both innovative and exciting,” he added.
The launch of the business follows Ofcom’s provisional approval of BBC Scotland late last month.
The dedicated channel, due to launch this year, will invest £11.3m in non-news programming each year.
