She will be responsible for building the business’ third-party programming, which currently represents around 46% of Hat Trick’s catalogue, according to Broadcast’s 2017 Distributors’ Survey.

Prior to Viasat, Zidek was vice-president of distribution at Gaumont and director of international sales for A&E and Lionsgate.

HTI’s catalogue consists of 1,222 hours, including Have I Got News for You, Episodes, Derry Girls, Killer Women with Piers Morgan, Hugh’s War on Waste and Exodus: Our Journey to Europe.

The business was formed in 1998 to internationally distribute formats and finished shows from Hat Trick Productions. Its third-party catalogue includes Keo Films’ Year of the Tribe.

Sarah Tong, director of sales for HTI, said: “Over recent years, in addition to distributing content created by our group production companies Hat Trick Productions, Plum Pictures, and Emporium Productions, we have had great success working with external companies including Keo Films, and Back2Back Productions.

“We are now looking to increase our slate and work with like-minded producers who will value our commitment as an independent delivering a bespoke service for their projects.”

Zidek added: “HTI has a fantastic reputation for creating tailor-made, global sales solutions for a diverse range of programming. I am thrilled to be part of the next stage of the company’s growth and look forward to talking to producers looking for a strong international distributor with a dedicated and hands-on approach.”
