ITV has invested in a new storage system as part of its move to a file-based workflow.

The deal with Isilon, a division of EMC which offers scale-out (network-attached storage) NAS, will see it provide storage for all ITV production sites and two data centers.

ITV director of strategy Andrew Ioannou described the deal as a further step in the broadcaster’s move towards a tapeless environment.

“As media businesses evolve to encompass highly diverse content creation and delivery processes, scale-out storage architectures are proving invaluable in solving many of the inherent challenges,” added David Sallak, Isilon chief strategist media and entertainment.
