Britain’s Got Talent postponed due to Covid

ITV has delayed filming the 15^th series of Britain’s Got Talent due to the government’s latest lockdown and rising cases of Covid-19.

While TV filming is technically exempt from the lockdown, ITV and producers Syco and Thames took the decision today (7 January) to postpone this month’s record dates due to the need to “safeguard the wellbeing of everyone involved in our programmes”.

The action was taken based on the needs of the hundreds of people involved in the show’s production, along with the requirement for contestants to travel to London for auditions.

ITV said it will “confirm revised dates in due course”.

The 14^th run of the juggernaut talent show was also disrupted due to the first wave of coronavirus last spring, with the second half of the springtime series TX’ing later in the summer.

ITV said: “With the announcement of the latest government health guidelines and with our priority of safeguarding the well-being of everyone involved in our programmes we, together with the production teams at Thames and Syco, have taken the decision to move the record and broadcast of the forthcoming series.”
