Media secretary Tessa Jowell has agreed to meet broadcasting union Bectu to discuss its fears about the sale of BBC Technology. Jowell will meet union representatives before the government makes a decision on the proposed sale of the technology offshoot to German firm Siemens. The meeting is expected to take place after 6 September, almost a week after the BBC's target date for the sell-off. Bectu has called for strike action over the matter which is due to begin over the weekend of the Olympics opening ceremony.
